TL;DR
We make XFA, so we have a stake here. This review tries to be fair anyway. Some of these alternatives beat us for certain people, and we say so.
What is the X-Factor Accelerator?
The X-Factor Accelerator (XFA) is The Art of Charm’s 90-day program. The Art of Charm started as a podcast and coaching company in the late 2000s, and more than 12,500 alumni have come through it. I’m AJ Harbinger, one of the co-founders.
Here’s what’s in it: 90 days of drills, a 1:1 onboarding call with Johnny and weekly group coaching with Johnny (Tuesdays, 7 PM ET). Here’s the XFA page.
How does XFA compare with the alternatives?
| Option | Format | Best for |
|---|
| X-Factor Accelerator | 90 days, 1:1 onboarding call, weekly group coaching | People who want structure from The Art of Charm |
| Charisma University | Self-paced, community | Beginners who want to learn at their own pace |
| SocialSelf Social Skills Accelerator | Three months, live coaching | People who want regular live sessions |
| SocialSelf Self-Conscious to Confident | Course | Anxiety-focused self-improvement |
| Toastmasters | Peer-led clubs | Public speaking practice |
| Dale Carnegie Course | Instructor-led, several weeks | Professionals, often through their employer |
| The Attractive Man | In-person bootcamps | Hands-on dating practice |
| Love Systems | Historically 3-day in-person bootcamps | Reviews are mixed |
For current enrollment details, see each provider’s site.
Is Charisma University a better fit?
For many beginners, yes. Charisma on Command’s Charisma University is self-paced and has a community. See their site for enrollment options.
Reviewers on r/CharismaOnCommand call it beginner-friendly. They also say it mostly structures material that’s already on the free YouTube channel. If you’re disciplined and just want that material organized, it’s a good value.
Choose it if: you’re a self-starter who wants a lower-risk first step.

Is SocialSelf worth considering?
SocialSelf was founded by David Morin in 2012. Its Social Skills Accelerator runs three months and includes three live coaching sessions per week and five course programs with lifetime access. That’s a lot of live contact. See their site for current enrollment details.
Its Self-Conscious to Confident course is more focused. Trustpilot reviews are mostly positive. Some reviewers say it’s too basic for them.
Choose it if: you want frequent live sessions, or you’re working specifically on self-consciousness.

Should I just join Toastmasters?
If your main goal is speaking, probably yes. Toastmasters membership details are on their site. It’s one of the simplest structured options. You get peer-led clubs, prepared and impromptu speaking, and peer evaluations. Guests can visit for free, so you can try it before joining.
It’s not a charisma or relationship program, and quality depends on your local club. For a peer-led format, though, it’s hard to beat.
Choose it if: public speaking and comfort on your feet are the goal.
See our Dale Carnegie vs Toastmasters comparison.
What about Dale Carnegie?
The Dale Carnegie Course is instructor-led over several weeks. Local franchises run the classes. See the official site for details in your area.
It’s a well-known name in professional communication and leadership. It’s also a common pick for workplace professional development.
Choose it if: you want a classroom-style, instructor-led format and it fits your work goals.
What if I want in-person dating practice?
That’s a different category. The Attractive Man runs in-person dating bootcamps, including the Natural Attraction Bootcamp, with cold-approach practice. Contact them directly for current schedules and details.
Love Systems historically sold 3-day in-person bootcamps, and reviews are mixed. Real Social Dynamics is reported to no longer sell pickup courses.
Our own legacy in-person bootcamp no longer runs. If hands-on, in-person reps are what you want, look at those options. XFA is a 90-day program, not a bootcamp.
For a full breakdown, see our guide to the best dating coach for men.
What do critics say about The Art of Charm?
There’s public criticism, and it’s fair to mention it. A 2024 r/socialskills post said the paid content wasn’t worth it. Some older reviews called parts of our academy content dated.
We take that seriously. It’s the reason we point you to the program page for specifics and encourage you to compare options before you commit. If you search for xfactr reviews, read the critical ones too.

Is the X-Factor Accelerator worth it?
It’s worth it if you want a structured 90-day program, you’re willing to put in the work, and the format fits your learning style.
It’s probably not the right move if:
- You’re a self-starter who’d be happy with a self-paced course.
- Your main goal is public speaking. Toastmasters is a simpler, peer-led option.
- You want in-person bootcamp reps. Look at the in-person providers above.
- You haven’t tried the free material yet.
