TL;DR
- Charisma University (from Charisma on Command) is self-paced and has a community. See their site for enrollment options.
- Reviewers call it beginner-friendly. Some say it mostly organizes material that’s also on the free YouTube channel.
- Best for: self-starters who want a structured path and don’t need live feedback.
- Look elsewhere if you want live practice (Toastmasters, SocialSelf) or a classroom format (Dale Carnegie).
I’m AJ Harbinger, co-founder of Art of Charm, so I’m a competitor here. I’ll say plainly where other options beat ours.
What is Charisma University?
Charisma University is the course from Charisma on Command. According to the official program page, it’s self-paced, includes a community, and is self-paced.
What does Charisma University include?
Per the official page, Charisma University is a self-paced course with a community. Check the page for current enrollment details.
Is Charisma University worth it?
It depends on what you need from it.
Where it fits:
- You’re new to social skills or charisma and want a clear order to learn things in.
- You like working alone, on your own schedule.
- You want a community alongside the lessons.
Where it may fall short:
- Reviewers on r/CharismaOnCommand say the course mostly structures material that’s also on their free YouTube channel. If you’re disciplined, you could build your own curriculum from those videos.
- It’s self-paced. Nobody makes you practice, and reading or watching isn’t the same as doing.
That’s the core of the value question. You’re getting structure and convenience, not necessarily content you can’t find elsewhere. For some people, structure is worth it. For others it isn’t.

What are the best Charisma on Command alternatives?
Is SocialSelf better than Charisma University?
SocialSelf was founded in 2012 by David Morin. Its Social Skills Accelerator runs three months and includes three live coaching sessions per week and five course programs with lifetime access.
That live element is the big difference from a self-paced course. It is also a bigger commitment. Its Self-Conscious to Confident program is more focused. See their site for current enrollment details.
Trustpilot reviews are mostly positive. Some reviewers call it too basic for them.
Best for: people who want regular live sessions and will use them.

Is Toastmasters a good alternative?
For many people, yes, and it’s the simplest structured option here. Clubs are peer-led and include prepared and impromptu speaking plus peer evaluations. See the Toastmasters membership FAQ for current details. Guests can visit free, so you can try a club before joining.
It’s focused on speaking, not general social dynamics. But if public speaking or thinking on your feet is your goal, it beats most courses on live practice.
Best for: speaking confidence, with low commitment.
See our Dale Carnegie vs Toastmasters comparison for more context.
What about the Dale Carnegie Course?
The Dale Carnegie Course is instructor-led over several weeks, run through local franchises. See the official site for details in your area. The instructor-led classroom format is a bigger commitment than self-paced or peer-led options.
Best for: professionals who want a classroom structure.
What if you want dating-focused training?
Charisma courses are general. If dating is your main goal, there are specialized options. The Attractive Man runs in-person dating bootcamps, including the Natural Attraction Bootcamp, with cold-approach practice. Love Systems historically sold 3-day in-person bootcamps, and reviews are mixed. Check current offerings yourself before committing. Real Social Dynamics is reported to no longer sell pickup courses.
Best for: in-person, dating-specific practice.

How does Art of Charm compare?
Art of Charm began as a podcast and coaching company in the late 2000s. It has 12,500+ alumni. The legacy in-person bootcamp no longer runs.
We’ve also had public criticism. A 2024 post on r/socialskills said our paid content wasn’t worth it, and some older reviews called parts of our academy content dated. That’s fair feedback, and you should weigh it. Our answer is the current program, and you can judge it on its own page.
The X-Factor Accelerator (XFA) is our 90-day program. It only makes sense if you want a longer, guided program rather than a self-paced course. It includes a 1:1 onboarding call with Johnny and weekly group coaching (Tuesdays, 7 PM ET).
For a direct comparison, see Art of Charm vs Charisma on Command.
