5 Things Women Love about a Divorcee

Think dating after a divorce puts you at a disadvantage?  Do you think that being a divorcee means you’re “damaged goods” and high-quality women won’t want to date you?  Well, think again.  Being divorced can actually be a huge advantage out in the dating world.  If you don’t believe me, just check out these 5 things women love about a divorcee.

  • Divorcees have the courage to commit

The fact that a man is divorced tells women something very important.  It tells them that at one time he was willing to commit his life to another person.  Sure it didn’t work out (and since 50% of marriages don’t that’s hardly something to be ashamed of) but at least he had the courage to take that leap.  He was willing to commit to this other person and tried to make it work.

Because he was willing to commit in the past women know he’s the type of man who can move a relationship forward.  This alone separates him from the countless guys out there who won’t take a relationship anywhere.  If and when things start to get serious, women can trust that a once-married man won’t get scared and run away.

Guys who are dating after divorce know the effort and work it takes to keep a relationship going.  Unlike other guys who run off the moment a relationship hits a bump in the road, men who have been married have had to work through plenty of difficult times.  As a result of this experience women can often trust a guy who is dating after a divorce more easily than a guy who’s never been in a serious relationship.  Women know the guy who has been married will at least try to work through any difficulties that might arise.

  • Divorced men can sit back and relax

Guys who are dating after a divorce have a distinct advantage over their never-married counterparts   Divorcees have already gone through the whole process of finding “The One” and don’t need to do it again.  The pressure some never-married men feel to find that perfect wife simply doesn’t exist for divorcees.   Since they’re not all worked-up, men who are dating after divorce can simply relax and enjoy dating for what it is.  This more relaxed approach to dating will make a guy come across as both more confident and more fun to be with than the guys desperately searching for that perfect girl.

  • They are better prepared for relationships

A guy who was once married knows what a real relationship is all about.  He knows how to share his life with another person.  So women know that a guy who has been married will likely be better at sharing emotions (and personal living space) than a guy who’s been single all his life.  This makes him much more attractive and desirable as it shows he’s the kind of man a woman can get close to.

The previous four points may have created the impression that dating after divorce if only good if you’re looking for older women who want a serious relationship.  But that’s not the case.  Younger women, and women who are not inclined for anything serious, can be more attracted to divorced men as well.

Reason being, divorced men have this major life experience they’ve learned from.  For younger women, and women who haven’t had any serious relationships, they can provide a refreshing change of pace.  A divorcee is someone who can teach her a thing or two about relationships.  And women like a guy who can bring a new perspective into their world.

Bonus reason #1: Divorcees have higher standards

Yet another reason divorcees have an advantage is that they tend to have a better idea of what it is they are looking for.  They have a much clearer picture of the type of woman they want as well as what they want from a relationship.  They know not to repeat the same mistakes they’ve already made, and for that reason they are often more selective in the women they date.

This selectivity alone will immediately make the divorcee more attractive.  When a man actively filters out women like this, women become more interested in trying to win him over.  People tend to value something when it’s hard to get, so if a man’s interest is difficult to attain women will put more effort into getting it.

Bonus reason #2: The advantage of being a dad

It may not seem like it, but single dads have a huge advantage in the dating scene.  The fact is women love a guy who is a good father.  It’s proof that he’s able to care about others in a deep and profound way.  Seeing a man has kids can also be good news for women because if a man has children, then he won’t need all that much from his other relationships.  He’s plenty busy and fulfilled as it is, so she can relax knowing he’s not going to ask too much from her.

These reasons should make it clear not to knock dating after divorce proceedings — in fact, if you play your cards right, you can work one of life’s greatest challenges to your advantage.
