More About This Show:
Nev Medhora wasn’t born into a wealthy, connected network of influencers, so he decided to create one. He knew his life would reflect the five people he spent the most time with, so he wanted to be connected to the wealthy and accomplished.
On today’s show we talk about his copywriting background, how those same skills can be applied to other areas of life, and exactly how to crash a party the right way — and the wrong way.
When it comes to crashing a party, there is definitely a right way to do it. There are some more obvious basics like actually finding the party and wearing a tuxedo, and some not-as-obvious tips like wearing a lanyard and wristband under your clothes.
Nev has crashed some high-end events like a private function hosted by Elton John and the World Congress of Information Technology, where he sat next to Michael Dell and chatted with him.
He says the key to crashing events is in how you look, how you act, and what you do once you’re inside. If you look the part and act the part, you can get into most places fairly easily. Unless you’re trying to get into a club, the security person’s job isn’t to keep you out, but to help you. Use that to your advantage: dress up, and walk through the entrance like you belong!
So once you’re inside, start mingling. Walk up to the bar and start a conversation with someone nearby. No one is going to give you a second glance if you’re dressed up and chatting away with the other attendees. But if you’re skulking in a corner by yourself, you’ll certainly draw attention.
Nev goes into greater detail about all of this so you can become an expert party crasher and networker. Even if you aren’t interested in crashing parties, Nev shares how to use these strategies for getting a discount on anything from rent to coffee! Thanks to Nev for giving us the low-down on this fun topic, and special thanks to you for being here! We’ll see you next time on The Art of Charm.
THANKS, NEV MEDHORA!
