A Guide to Beating Shyness

Do you want confidence? Of course you do. But you probably aren’t sure how to overcome shyness, which is why you’re looking for advice online about how to do it. The Art of Charm understands — we really do. That’s because we see literally hundreds of guys every year that are a lot like you; They want to get more out of life, but they know that to get that they’re going to need to overcome shyness. Here’s The Art of Charm’s quick guide on how to make it happen.

Set Goals

Unless you know where you want to go, you’re never going to get there. The answer we give to guys who want to know how to overcome shyness begins with setting goals. Where do you want to be in a month? In a three months? In a year? Make your goals attainable, but also measurable. You’re going to need to be able to see whether or not you actually met your goals, so if you make them too vague, you’ll never be able to figure it out.

Push Yourself

Change is always difficult. Sometimes it’s painful. So if you want to beat shyness, you’re going to need to make yourself uncomfortable from time to time. Sometimes you’re going to need to make yourself feel very uncomfortable.

Take, for example, your goal. A good one might be “talk to five women tonight.” The first one is going to be the hardest… unless you get blown out of the water, in which case it will probably be the second. But I can almost guarantee that the fourth or fifth will be way easier.

Think of it like exercise: You need to train insane or remain the same.

Track Your Progress

Tracking progress is important (it might even be the most important way of knowing how to overcome shyness). One way you can do that is by keeping a diary. Write down what happened, how you felt about it, anything of significance that occurred in terms of your goals.

Once you’ve done that every day for a month, you need to review your diary. Have you made progress? How? In what ways have you not achieved your goals? How are you going to modify your approach to do so?

Reward Yourself

Rewards can be a big treat and they should be from time to time. However, you don’t have to go all out to reward yourself. It can be as simple as a pat on the back without any negativity or cynicism involved.

But hey — get yourself something nice when you start achieving your goals, too.
