Pickup artist training programs are everywhere these days. If you live near a major city, you can find any number of PUA workshops, boot camps and seminars, some of which make promises that seem too good to be true, and many of which require you to transform yourself into somebody you’re not. You have to be extremely careful, though, because many of these pickup artist training programs can actually hurt your game.
First off, too many of these programs rely on routines, bad mindsets and rules based on myth and bogus science. These tactics force you to take on a persona that is incongruent to who you really are. When you get sucked in by these gimmicks, you don’t actually achieve personal growth, and this ongoing façade can leave you feeling even more frustrated than you were when you started.
When you begin relying heavily on the persona, you end up speaking and looking at the world through a bizarro PUA bubble that doesn’t allow you to truly connect with people. When this happens, you naturally become very guarded and can even become extremely jaded. But you don’t have to change who you are or conform to ridiculous methods in order to succeed with women.
If you want to start seeing real, powerful results, the key is to better yourself and improve your beliefs about yourself. That comes from experience, not from books or DVDs. You don’t need a new “tactic” or “method.” You will achieve far greater benefit from hitting the gym, getting comfortable with yourself in social environments and learning to be conscious of what your body is saying under pressure.
Remember, it’s easy to become a “fish” looking for the next breakthrough in pickup, but don’t buy the hype. We have been reproducing and hooking up for hundreds of thousands of years, and no pickup artist in Okie Skokie is going to figure out what science already has.
