Do you struggle with your text game? Not sure what things to text a girl you like? Some men are good at texting and bad at face to face. Other men struggle with their text game, but are gangbusters in person. Even if you’ve got some handle on what to text girls you’re interested in, we’ve got some pointers that will help kick your text game into overdrive.
Text a Girl to Let Her Know You Had a Good Time
Whether you just met a girl at a bar or you’re back from your first date, it never hurts to text her and let her know that you had a good time. You want to keep it simple and straightforward. A couple things to text a girl you likecan be, “It was great meeting you tonight. Can’t wait to go hiking,” or “I had a killer time tonight. Don’t try and get me so drunk next time!” Texts like these let her know that you’re interested without coming on too strong and open the door to future communication.
Text a Girl to Banter With Her
It’s not just about keeping it simple and straightforward all the time. Sometimes, it can be fun to text a girl just to flirt and banter a little bit. I advise men not to text for “serious” or even light getting-to-know-you type conversations. Instead, keep your social texting light, playful, teasing and flirtatious. Remember that 90 percent of communication isn’t the words you use, but your intonation and body language. With that in mind, skip that stuff in a text and keep it for when you and a girl are actually together.
Texting Should Lead to Dates
Bantering in a text is fine, but don’t let it drag on too long. When considering things to text a girl you like, you want to move the conversation to its goal: Namely, getting her to agree to go on a date with you. Flirt a bit over text, sure, but move toward getting a date set. Once you get the girl to say yes, you want to work through the logistics: Where, when, who is driving whom, etc. Once that’s done, stop texting and go back to whatever it is that you’re doing.
Remember: The best communication happens in person, not through texting.
Transitioning From a Flirty Text to a Dating Text
How do you move from one type of text to another? Easy. Just pivot.
One second, you’re texting with her in a playful way. When you hit a high point in the text conversation, take a beat and ask her if she wants to do something soon. The important thing is that your text be specific: You want to have a specific date in mind and a general time frame, for example “Do you want to go to that art gallery some time this weekend? I’m free Saturday night.” This is general enough to be effective (she might text back that she’s busy Saturday night, but free some other time this weekend), while also being specific enough to actually secure a date.
