Why Men and Relationships Go Together

A sort of surprising thing we’ve learned at The Art of Charm over the last several thousand guys we’ve helped to hone their social skills to a razor’s edge: Most men are actually looking for relationships. Sure, they want to find one, but men and relationships are closer to each other than stand-up comedians would have you believe. So why do relationships work so well for guys?

Companionship

At the end of the day, when it comes to men and relationships, it comes down to this. You want someone to enjoy life with. It’s not that your bros aren’t great and everything. It’s just that a woman in your life is often times the missing piece of the puzzle. And while, at first, you might want to get out there and meet lots of different kinds of women, more often than not the end game involves finding that special someone that you can do all the things you love with. Someone who will always be there.

Whether it’s white water rafting or hitting up foreign movies at the local cinema, having someone to do it with can enhance just about any activity — fewer things make anything better in the same way that a pretty girl does.

You Just Click

On the other hand, there are guys who are “confirmed bachelors” who think they’ll never get into a long-term relationship or be married. Then they find the right person entirely by accident. When these men get into relationships, it’s a surprise to basically everyone, but that’s because they got hit over the head with something so great they couldn’t walk away from it. One of the things about being in a relationship with the right person is that it can change you a lot — especially when you just click.

It might happen quickly or it might happen slowly. Sometimes people just hit it off right off the bat. In other circumstances, they sort of grow into one another. No matter what the situation is, you wouldn’t be the first guy to think that he’d never want something more long-term and steady to find out that a relationship suits him to a “T” once he meets the right girl.

You Get a Partner in Crime

Maybe you’re a bit of a troublemaker. You like to go out. You like to party. You like to have adventures. But what you find out is that it’s a lot better to go on those kinds of adventures with someone who is as much of a hellraiser as you are. These relationships can sometimes be rocky or even turbulent, but other times the two of you are peanut butter to the other one’s jelly.

One reason that this type of relationship can work really well in the long run is because adventure and novelty are crucial for keeping relationships sustained beyond the original moment of passion. If you both have a very adventurous spirit and you’re pushing the other one forward, that can be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to making it last over the long term.
